Agricultural Entrepreneurship: YAG Embarks on Vegetable Gardening Journey

Agricultural Entrepreneurship

Agricultural entrepreneurship is the new focus for the Youth Advisory Group (YAG) as they embark on their journey with great momentum through hands-on training in vegetable gardening. These trainings serve as the critical preparation phase for implementing a robust agricultural project aimed at economically empowering young people. The initiative utilizes opportunities provided by the Youth Innovation Fund (YIF) to transform youth mindsets toward farming.

Youth Economic Development: GOYN Program Implementation

Youth economic development is the core objective of this activity, which is part of the Global Opportunity Youth Network (GOYN) program. Seedling Production Techniques: High-Quality Nursery Management

Seedling production techniques were practiced during the sessions, with participants learning how to mix soil, cow manure, and rice husks to produce high-quality nursery media for trays. Seedlings of sweet melon and tomatoes were carefully established before being transplanted to the garden. The goal is achieving healthy plants and higher yields, which are essential for a profitable harvest.

Market-Oriented Agriculture: TANSHEP Principles

Market-oriented agriculture was introduced to the youth through the use of a farm income recording form approved by TANSHEP. The training was guided by the well-known business principle: “Start with the market, then return to the farm for profit.” This approach ensures that production is driven by demand, maximizing the potential for income generation.

Agribusiness as a Viable and Profitable Career

Agribusiness as a viable and profitable career is the vision GOYN promotes. This is not an ordinary project, but a journey toward creating decent jobs, strengthening youth collaboration, and contributing to the development of resilient local economies. Through GOYN, young people are encouraged to view agriculture not merely as a traditional activity, but as a profitable business that embraces innovation, market demand, and income sustainability.
